Stella was born in the UK, and grew up on the East Anglian coast which has given her a special affinity for seaside landscapes. She has a double First Class degree and PhD in Arts, specializing in Italian and Literature, from Warwick University, UK. She has lived and studied in Florence, which gave rise to an affinity for Renaissance art, its celebration of the human figure and an appreciation of the joys of drawing. After studying and teaching in England, and traveling in Europe, Stella moved to Australia in 1998.

Stella has won several awards including the New England Art Show First Prize for Contemporary Art, a High Commendation at the Brighton/Porsche Art Show 2009, and the Bank of Queensland Emerging Artist Award (at the 2009 Pink Lady Art Exhibition).
Her paintings are held in private collections in the UK, NZ, USA, and around Australia. She has lived in Beaumaris since 2008 and has three daughters.
