JONI Dennis
I can’t remember a beginning, it seems like it’s been that way for ever; drawing and painting. As a teenager I painted images on my bedroom walls, then I dyed the carpet. Eventually I began painting on canvas, which humored my parents and that led me to formal study.
A degree in graphic design led to fulltime career in design and advertising. Engrossing as it was I still found time to paint and during this time I developed a bias to large works.
Now as a full time painter I pursue the challenge to create work that provoke. My subject is all natural, but my interpretation is unique. I love colour, contrast and texture and the challenge they present.
My work continually changes. I see subject matter in every vista and I see many interpretations in each scene. Entertaining and stimulating it evokes a feeling of warmth and contribution. I’m in love with what I do and that’s a privilege.
Brett Whitely called it “a difficult pleasure’ - it is! And it’s addictive and exhilarating.
